Ian Parmiter (Lord Sonic)    b. 1963

Ian, Lord Sonic does not like to describe his work as it is a form of blind painting, whereby his mind lets his brushstrokes take an automated, natural flow. His artistic language is a form of ‘Organic Expressionism’ with influences deriving from objects of antiquity to personal issues. The artist has been surrounded by antiques and art for over four decades. His paintings are mainly figurative with symbols and signifiers of object d’art that are imprinted in his memory.

The artists brushstrokes are organic and fluid with the majority of his work created within fifteen minutes. The medium he chooses is not the traditional methods of oil and canvas but found wood panels and household paints. The viewer can feel the energy in his continuous and fluent brushstrokes. His body of work is staggeringly impressive, we had to convince the artist to display a small fragment of his work to a wider audience, given that his work is profoundly personal which encapsulates friends and family, past and present.
